Julie Stein has lived in Kensington for more than 34 years. Her daughter Kathryn and son Michael were raised in Kensington and attended Kensington Hilltop Elementary School and El Cerrito High School. Julie has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley. She serves as the Executive Director and COO of a non-profit company in Asia that is owned by UC and serves as an intellectual hub for sustainability research and entrepreneurship. She has served as a board member of the Kensington Property Owners Association and served four years as one of the founding leads on NextDoor Kensington. Julie was elected to the KFPD Board of Directors in 2018.
